I've been on T3 for 7 weeks and in the last 5 days, I've been experiencing itching at night and now during the day. It lasts for about 10-15 minutes and then goes away.
Is this normal or a bad sign?

It could mean you are sensitive to the fillers/biders in the T3.
If you take an anti-histamine tablet 1 hour before T3, if you don't get the reaction it might mean you have to change to another brand.
Yosay, it's not normal. Not sure why it would take 7 weeks to cause an allergic reaction though so perhaps it's not T3. If it's bothersome you could stop taking T3 for 3 or 4 days to see whether the itching stops. If it resumes when you restart T3 you'll need to take an antihistamine before hand or change brand.
I wasn't aware liquid T3 is available. What is it called?

Hi Yosay, I get itching as a hypo symptom, seems to be partially associated with dry skin too. For me at least it's a sign of under treatment. Good luck
I take T3 only and yes it does make me itchy. I was told by my GP that it was a known side effect and I take loraterdine and hydroxine to calm it down. It has become better over the 6 years I have been taking T3 although the itchy eyes can be a nuisance at times.

Thanks for the info.
t3 should not make anyone itchy and it isn't common. If you get a rash, then it could be fillers. Never mentioned once in all the research papers i have read. But, it is a symptom of hypo or hashi's, as is issues with nerves in the skin.
Sorry faith63 but the itching is clearly stated as a common side effect in the tablet leaflet and its unlikely to be anything to do with fillers as I also get it if I take Uni Pharm T3 or Cynomel when it was available. The skin itching has gradually calmed down over the 6 years I have taken this drug but I still suffer with the itchy eyes which have to be calmed with Opticrom, a hay fever product for the eyes.
This subject has come up before on Healthunlocked so its more common than you think.

This is what i found on drugs.com
Dermatologic
Dermatologic side effects of thyroid hormone therapy have included transient hair loss during the initial months of therapy. Rarely, allergic skin reactions have been reported with liothyronine (the active ingredient contained in Cytomel) [Ref]
UPDATE: I figured out that I was over-medicated. That's why I was itching. Once I lowered the dose the itching went away.
