Can you PM me concerning an endocrinologist?

Hi All,

It has been a while since I have posted here and thank you very much for all your very helpful replies - my numbers have gotten better slowly but I had a bad allergic reaction over Christmas when I got switched to Carbimazole so I am not feeling great now. And now I am 9 months into treatment but my consultant retired and he recommended a new endocrinologist - can anyone PM me regarding Dr Ian Gallen please?

Thanks,

Daniela

Danutza, sorry to hear that you've had an adverse reaction to Carbimazole. Email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk to see whether Dr. Gallen is on the list of member recommended endos. You could Google him to find out more about him too.

Thank you, Clutter. I am so fed up with the proper science approach I am currently searching for a naturopath locally who could help with a natural treatment. But I still have an appt in 3 months time with this doctor so I thought maybe someone can clue me in on what to expect from the appt.

Danutza, Propylthiouracil (PTU) may be used when patients react badly to Carbimazole. I'm not sure there is a natural alternative to either although iodine may lower thyroid levels slightly.

Hi Clutter, I have been on PTU as I was breastfeeding, but after I weaned my son the consultant wanted me to switch to Carbimazole as I was going through a hair loss spell and he thought it was an allergic reaction to PTU (yep, looks like I may be allergic to both!), and that is how the allergic reaction to Carbimazole happened. I have been reading that bugleweed may be used under a specialist's supervision and together with anti-thyroid drugs to bring the levels to normal, so I am thinking of going that way. I know, bugleweed... what is that??? But, in the end, isn't all medicine coming from nature? I have an open mind, and of course I'll do all the checks possible before doing anything outlandish! I did try homeopathic remedies in the beginning but unfortunately they did not work for me.
