Personal question about BM changes

I started a complete gluten free diet about three days ago. I already notice I feel better than I have in a long time. I also notice however that I'm having frequent sometimes painful bouts of gas and mucous BMs. Is this usual?

This all depends on what you ARE eating. What are you eating? Mucous production by colonocytes is healthy.

Dr Sarah Myhill suggests taking 2000 mcg of VitC before sleep to deal with gut fermentation or SIBO ( small intestinal bacteria overgrowth ) .Won't do any harm :-)

L If you have suddenly changed to the gluten free products you can buy in the supermarkets then your culprit will be in there. They are super processed and give me heartburn and stomach upsets.

It takes time to adjust to new habits, and breakfast without cereals or toast is a big change.

I'll second that - plus GF bread for example can be much higher in fibre than non GF.

You could also be intolerant of one of the gluten-free substitutes. Turns out I'm very 'allergic' to rice - probably because I ate so much of it over the years.

That didn't happen to me when I first went GF - probably because I already had bad enteropathy. If the issue continues, you could try "Complete Digestion" by Enzyme Science. I have tried lots of acid and enzyme preparations to deal with the aftereffects of gluten, and Complete Digestion is the only one I've gotten a significant benefit from.
