Wow that is good how have you achieved this?

I had my thyroid removed 3years ago and take 100 thyroxine my TSH is 0.02

Hence my doctor s reluctance to up my dose.the last three months I have been suffering extreme joint pain and stiffness especially in my hands feet knees and back. I have been tested for RA as my sister has it but results negative

I have managed to get an appointment to discuss this on January 23!!

Really don t know what to do next I walk every day ,watch my diet, and take supplements i really feel old before my time and I m only 62

Any ideas anyone

Piedo

Ps happy Christmas to everyone

I'm 52 but have felt 80 for about 18 months. Severe stiffness and aches after just 10 minutes sitting. I was diagnosed hypo about 8 weeks ago, had 25mcg Levo daily for 6 weeks. Felt no different. Last week had my recent bloods done and the doctor upped my Levo to 50mcg and said I'm Vit D deficient so gave me a weekly dose of 50,000 IU. I took the first one on Saturday. So it's either that or the raise in Levo, or both combined. I did get stiff again by the evening though, so I suspect it might be the Levo as I'm ok again this morning.

I'm new to all this so probably can't give advice but maybe get your Vit D checked.

100mcg of Levothyroxine isn't very high for someone with no thyroid. It's a pity your doctor won't test your FT3 and FT4. Then you would know whether an increased dose would help you. You could get a Blue Horizon test, or you could get hold of some more Levothyroxine and see whether a bit more (say an extra 25mcg a day) helped your symptoms. Otherwise you could try a little bit of NDT or, as you say, T3. It seems these days we have to take the initiative and sort ourselves out.

This was a reply to Piedo - it seems to have appeared in the wrong place!
