TSH 0.02

I have just had parathyroid surgery, prior to surgery my TSH was 1.6 (0.44-3.92).

I had it retested last Friday and it's now 0.02 ! I am on 2 grains of Natural throid and was prior to surgery.

Is this ok or shroud I see my Endo bout it

Amanda, the surgery will have had an effect on your levels, endos and surgeons don't acknowledge this but many members on the PTH forum have had this happen. I had PTH surgery a year ago and it took many months for my levels to settle.

Amandajl, TSH 0.02 isn't a problem. It's possible that parathyroid surgery interfered with your thyroid gland and it may need time to settle down. I wouldn't reduce dose until after your next thyroid test, and then only if FT3 is over range.

Thank you Clutter, my FT3 is at the top of the range prior to surgery, it was 6.7 (3.7-6.7 my FT4 was 14.0 (12.3-20.2

My TSH is also 0.02 and I am also on 2 grains Nature Throid. I don't think you should worry. How you feel is most important!

TSH tests are useless when you are taking any form of thyroid replacement hormone.
