I was just wondering if anyone has noticed a difference in their blood pressure or pulse rate changing after starting ndt. My blood pressure goes up significantly in the afternoon, before my 2nd dose, and my pulse rate goes too low.

NDT & Blood Pressure
Hi Hypo, Your adrenal glands and vagus nerve have a lot of control over blood pressure. Have you considered taking your whole dose at one time? Are you at a stable dose of NDT or just starting.
This video explains how it all works.

I just started on ndt a month ago. I would take ome dose in the morning, then by mid-afternoon had the issues with blood pressure. It made me a bit afraid to take more. Only on 1 1/2 grain at present. I still have a long road ahead, since my docs are no help. Although most of the symptoms I have been dealing with for 20+ years have improved so far, I guess i'm fortunate to only have this one problem to figure out. I have suffered panic/anxiety disorder most of my life. I though it was perhaps because of my over-active thyroid...but it continued even after I had RAI.
hypoplexed, I think you are looking at this in reverse. A balanced metabolism will produce good blood pressure and less anxiety. It starts with your sensory nerves which transmits the stress to your adrenal gland which tries to keep everything in balance. When your thyroid is very low, it is forced to use adrenaline and cortisol to stabelize, so your adrenals work harder. At least that is how I understand it. When my blood pressure goes too low, adrenaline pushes up my pulse. So I am assuming the reverse may be true. Please take time to watch the video. Bergman is very good and agrees with other functional presentations. This man is also a functional medicine doctor. These are very short videos but explain what is happening when thyroid is too low.
Ok. Thank you so much for the info. I'm still learning.
Yes, my BP increased when I started NDT, about 10 points. I am in the middle of researching why this is so so I do not have any answers for it yet. I am beginning to think the key is getting the dose absolutely right. BP will rise if you are hypo as well as if you are hypo regardless of whether you are on Levo or NDT.
Ooooops
.....will rise if you are hypo as well as if you are hyper..........
sorry aout that.
I am experiencing the same thing - ever since I started on T3 and now on NDT I have gone from low BP to high - have you made any progress?
