Since my appointment with endo yesterday I am become even more confused.
I'm on T3 only and endo says I must have some T4 to bring my TSH within range as without T4 my heart and bones could suffer. My books say the opposite. If we are taking T3 why do we need to take T4?? and why do we need to have the TSH within range??

I have no idea where these 'fairy tales' come from. I am sure it's not through science. Can he give you papers/research which would confirm this?
Is he aware that T4 is a pro-hormone and it's job is to convert to the Active T3, without sufficient we cannot function properly.
I am on T3 only, I don't care where my TSH is and as I take no T4 it will be no-where probably in my results or very below range. I have no signs of overstimulation. I feel well. My bones/heart are probably in better condition because levothyroxine made me very unwell.
Many who have had thyroid cancer and had their thyroid glands removed altogether are on suppressive doses of thyroid hormones. So they talk out 'both sides of their mouths'.
Thank you Shaws, I was being to think I was going mad. She was a very nice lady endo. but did say she didn't have time to think outside the box. This is all the fault of a nurse-led blood check. I think the only point in my blood results was that my T3 had dropped. I'm finding if I go to my exercise class or exercise gym wise, my symptoms are coming back. Perhaps I'm pushing myself too hard to be normal.x
When we are on T3 only and not on optimal, exercising depletes our T3 so listen to your body first and foremost. You could inadvertently be reducing your T3, maybe a slight increase would help. Bearing in mind I'm not medically qualified.
What rubbish! If you feel OK why change anything? Your doctor is an advisor only he/she cannot dictate what you should or shouldn't do. DO NOT let the GP reduce your meds based on blood tests alone they are completely unreliable.
