Abzieg, I'm not aware that low iodine causes hair loss but low zinc can. Supplementing high dose iodine can induce autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) but <150mcg iodine is unlikely to be harmful unless you have Hashimoto's. If you supplement iodine it's a good idea to supplement 200mcg selenium too. I think it might be beneficial to supplement zinc and copper which are low.

Thankyou clutter. Do you think zinc could be low enough to be causing my hair to not resume to its normal growth cycle? I also have an itchy scalp, could this be it too? I think I will supplement 50mg zinc with 2mg copper combined to try and get my levels up.
