Help : Hi guys I already have 3 immune diseases... - Thyroid UK
Help
You will be a bit anxious to know the actual diagnosis and I hope this link will be helpful:-
Hi Make sure you have biopsies for the nodules. If taking any vit D stop immediately as calcium above range.
Best wishes,
Jackie
Hi taffydaffy
I am so very sorry and sympathetic for you. I originally joined this forum as I was showing all the signs of hyperthyroid but fortunately it is not that but I do have one of the most vile and ignored diseases primary hyperparathyroidism. After an ultrasound I am now waiting for a sestamibi test. I have all your symptoms, have lost half a stone in 7 weeks and feel like I am dying. I went down the private route because my stupid GP was encouraging me to chew on 3000mg of calcium per day (I have advanced osteoporosis) when she hadn't even noticed that my calcium was over the range (I have everything printed off as I don't trust them). You should have a parathyroid test as well but GP's seem to be reluctant, not only through total ignorance but probably the cost and the excuse that the sample can go off in the van. I don't think I am allowed to post links but if you Google Sallie Powell who looked like she was 9 months pregnant, you will come across an article in the Daily Mail describing her 7 years of hell left undiagnosed. She created a group on Facebook where there are more sufferers Hyperparathyroid UK Action for Change, also has started a petition to try and make the GP's and endocrinologists (who can be equally as ignorant). There is nothing she doesn't know about the parathyroid and we all support each other. I met a few of them down in London back in August before I got really sick. I have learned a great deal from parathyroid.com who are an expert clinic in Tampa but apart from the costs not really well enough to travel that far. Your calcium is very high, mine has only ever got up to around 2.8 and I feel bad enough. Demand a PTH blood test and referral to a good endocrinologist. By the way, a lot of people on the group also have hypothryoidism too. Good luck.
Hi and thanks for the information I phoned up my Dr today they said my scan was satisfactory yet high calcium level multiple nodules on my thyroid they think my parathyroid glands are in my chest so I have appointment today going to try sort this mess out x
Hi , hyperparathyroidism causes a lot of awful symptoms and hopefully if your surgery is successful you may find that your other immune diseases ease up . The operation itself is easy ... Don't be worried .. Look up parathyroid.com for more info . Good luck
