Help!

Fist time writing a post on here but just wandering if anyone can help me! I've was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 9 yrs ago now and have been on 100mg of thyroxine per day. Was also diagnosed with depression 10yrs ago and have been on 300mg of venlefaxine on and off between 3 pregnancies. I am convinced that I have a hormonal imbalance as 2wks of the month I am a mess with depression, fatigue, tearful, acne outbursts but the main problem is that it's breaking down my relationships as on these 2 wks I can't communicate with my partner at all, don't want him near me and quite honestly wander if I like him anymore. I've been like this for years with a couple of partners and can't cope anymore as its ruining every relationship. Over the last 6 months I've been slowly coming off my anti depressants as I truly believe it's my hormones and thyroid that are my problem. I've also come off my contraception as that seems to effect me also. But I'm having the worst 2 wks in my cycle ever at the moment and now at a loss of what to do next. Should I go back on my anti depressants? My doctors useless and just says my thyroid results are fine and there's nothing else I can do. Sorry for the long message but I really need help and don't know where to turn so any advice will be much appreciated. Thank you

Welcome to our forum and don't do anything just yet.

You are probably not on sufficient medication but in order for us to support/help you I would make a new appointment for a blood test. Ask for a Full Thyroid Function Test (they may not all be done but ask anyway). Tell your GP you want TSH, T4, T3, Free T4 and Free T3, iron, ferritin and folate plus Vit B12, Vit D. too.

Tell him you're fed up always being unwell and now is the time you are going to take a hand in your own health.

Make and appointment for the earliest time and fast. Do not take levo for approx 24 hours before the blood test and take it afterwards.

Get a print-out of your blood test results with the ranges and post them on a new question for comments.

If he says he wont request Free T3 tell him you need to know if you are converting levo to sufficient T3 as it is the active hormone needed in ALL of your receptor cells in your body. Without sufficient we cannot function properly. Don't forget a gap of 24 hours approx from levo and your blood test. You can always get a private test if necessary.
