Hi sorry I Don't understand how you can be but I've read that hashimotos can and does cause a fluctuation, however I'm only a novice to all this but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will be untouched soon.

Hello ladies, so sorry I miss spelt .I meant in touch, not untouched

Hello shenbenholly,

Your T4 is over range but your T3 is horribly low.

How do you feel.. ? .. You would benefit from adding some T3 to raise levels.

Your TSH leaves room for improvement.

If this is not possible you could ensure all nutrients/iron are optimal and supplement selenium to aid T4 to T3 conversion.

Also reducing high antibody levels will help meds synthesis in the body and work better. Your TPOAb is very high.

A high antibody count will cause inflammation and be very destructive to your cells.

many members including myself have benfited from a gluten free diet. I also supplement therapeutic doses of Curcumin shown to help in reducing inflammation.

Thanks flower I've been getting palps that's why I had the private blood test do I need a reduction in levothyroxine the comments say I'm over active an have I got hashi sorry for all the question am I having trouble converting

in reply toshaybenholly

shaybenholly,

Whilst you were answering I edited my post above adding a link explaining Hashimotos.

I am so sorry but I misread your results and your T3 IS NOT LOW but actually good..! ! ! ....ooops..!

That means you are NOT having trouble converting.

Hashimoto's attacks the thyroid gland reducing hormone output until depleted and Levothyroxine is replacing this missing hormone. Your T4 will fluctuate as attacks mean large amounts are suddenly dumped in the blood stream and this can make you feel quite HYPERthyroid and account for your palpatations.

Reducing antibodies will calm attacks which can go on for many years in some people.

I think your meds are the right dose as any more would increase T3 level which is fine.

Apologies sent again for misinterpreting your results. I hope I didn't worry you.

no thanks flower so i do have hashi would a small reduction in levothyroxine help reduce my palps for the time being an is their anything else i can do to help myself thanks for replying

Maybe a small reduction in palpitations would help. For myself I only had palpitations when on levothyroxine and they were helped when I added T3 and reduced T4.

Did leave about 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the blood test and did you draw blood at the earliest?

shaybenholly profile image
shaybenholly in reply toshaws

i did shaw an bloods were done early i new these palps were something to do with my thyroid im on 125 levo might see about doing 112 an a half for a while shaw do i have hashi if so i will go gluton free

shaws profile image
shawsAdministrator in reply toshaybenholly

certainly reduce your levo slightly and hopefully it will stop the palpitations.

Sometimes as well we can become sensitive to fillers/binders in levo so I assume you get the same make each time from the pharmacist.

You have hashimoto's and going gluten-free has helped a lot of members. I've not done it myself but don't have antibodies. Gluten free reduces antibodies which will be helpful to you.

Palpitations are quite scary at times. Mine was always worse in the middle-of the night.

This is a link which explains about antibodies. You in fact have a condition called Autoimmune Thyroid Disease.

thanks shaw they recently changed my brand to mercury pharma ive now made sure i changed back to activas incase it was the brand yes palps are very scary an doctor just hasnt got a clue which is very worrying its took me to have this private test to see whats wrong they only test tsh

Once we have a levo which suits us unless we develop symptoms later on it's best we stick to the same one each month as you are now doing.

I have avoided MP tablets ever since they had a bad effect on me. I stick to Actavis (Boots) and I am also gluten free and managed to reduce my TPO antibody score to about 5 and felt a lot better. I also supplement with Selenium and make sure that my Vit D, B12, folate and iron levels are good. Hope things improve for you.

shaybenholly profile image
shaybenholly in reply tocrimple

Yeah I have told the chemist activas now and I'm going to look into going gluten free I haven't got a clue about what I can't an can't eat the problem I'm having now I can't cut the 25 Levo in half properly to reduce my mess to 112 an half I'm losing to much in crumbs can I take 100 an then 125 the next day instead ?

crimple profile image
crimple in reply toshaybenholly

Yes you can take alternate days and anyway Actavis don't have 25mcg levo, only MP, so youwould be better with 50mcg levo. Thyroid UK sell a pill cutter.

Try reading Izabella Went re GF eating in her book Hashimotos thyroiditis root cause or Robb Wolf the Paleo solution. Coeliac society is good for info on foods that are GF free. You will be amazed how much food contains Gluten. I find it ieasier to cook from scratch.

Supermarkets are good for bread.

Flower, why do you say that T3 is " horribly low "? FT3 is 5.96 and the range is 3.1-6.8 so a FT3 of 5.96 is pretty good, I would say. Clemmie

Yes, you are right Barrister ...ooops . .misread results ! !

So glad you spotted it.

Thank you.

hi do you no why blue horizon have said im now over active im totally lost

Clutter profile image
Clutter in reply toshaybenholly

Shaybenholly, they're saying you are overactive because FT4 is slightly over range. It is slight but as you are having palpitations you might be more comfortable if you reduce Levothyroxine to 112.5mcg.

thanks clutter i will reduce it sorry i asked that before i read through replys properly

Hi Flower, you mentioned that iron levels should be optimal. Can you pls tell me what should that be?And also what are "therapeutic doses of Curcumin"?Do you take them in capsule form?

in reply tosa1234

Hello sa1234

Ferritin should be over 90.

I don't know what to suggest regarding supplements as don't need to myself. .. but know iron should be taken with vit C to aid absorbtion.

You can always post a question.

Re Curcumin -I take a combination pill called KappArest that includes ingredients known to dampen autoimmune responses & support the immune system such as Curcuminoid, Boswellia, Bee Propolis, Green Tea, Ginger, Rosemary and Celery amongst others.

They are expensive but save you having lots of different pill pots & I can't recommend them enough. However, having investigated immunity bit deeper, I would assume there will be others whose immunity problems may not respond so readily to these ingredients as mine have.

I am still suffering high antibody counts atm but have managed to eradicate all aches, skin problems and other small irritating issues. My post nasal drip has also dried up.

Sometimes I feel I'm actually getting better and then the next I feel crap again..... keep trying.
