Tears

The trip down to my local hospital this week, just to get blood drawn for my Genova test, brought me to tears 5 times!

Does anyone here know how to raise a 'tearful thresh-hold'? (I don't feel sad or depressed, I just have no control over tears) It's embarrassing!

You could have a look to see how your adrenals are holding up.... Have you considered a saliva adrenal test?

Thanks galathea,

Yes my adrenals have been struggling for some years; sometimes I think they are improving - until the tiniest challenge comes their way and I then realise they are no better. I have been taking adrenal glandulars for about a year. Either they don't work for me or maybe I don't take enough.

Like the thyroid, there isn't an easy answer.

I have had several saliva tests over the years, the last about a year or so ago.

Next week I am having an HRV test which tests the ANS (parasympathetic and sympathetic) Hopefully that will reveal something, and what to do about it.

Thank you

I don't know if this will prove helpful or not but.. this is the information given to many folks on another NDT thyroid site when people are struggling with their adrenals.

"Here is what has helped me:

Adrenals run on salt, so you want to get some of the unprocessed sea salt, like Celtic Sea Salt and take 1/4-1/2 tsp in 16 oz of water several times per day. Plus, you want to get a good ionized multimineral, a good multi B like Swanson's Activated B's with methylfolate not folic acid and around 1000 mg of a real vit. C and not ascorbic acid per day. Sublingual methyl b12, 500-1000 mcg, can be very helpful as well as magnesium at 5 mg per pound of body weight.

and

I make an adrenal cocktail that has really been helping my adrenals. I use a glass of filtered water (or carbonated water) along with a pinch of the gray unprocessed celtic sea salt, 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar or some coconut water (for potassium), some ionic trace minerals, a few squeezes of fresh lemon juice, some flavoring, and a little bit of liquid stevia.

Here are others: gotmag.org/the- adrenal-cocktail/

This may or may not be enough. Doing the 4x per day saliva cortisol test is the gold standard to see what is going on with your adrenals."

Hi phoenix23002,

Thank you for your reply. ( i got a bit behind with my emails.)

I think I'm doing all of the suggestions already - the methylated B complex, extra folate, B12, and B5; plus the salt drinks, magnesium, ACV, cream of tartar & bicarb and about 6 gms of ascorbates plus rose hip powder. I seem to spend all day taking supps.!!

I like some recipes on 'the nourished caveman' and intend to try them out.

I did the adrenal saliva test 18months ago, and have improved a bit since then.

Next week I'm having a an HRV test which will reveal my ability to adapt to stress of any origin and the efficiency of my hormonal system, plus a few more things. I suspect that will be revealing!!!

Thanks again - I'm off now to have my adrenal cocktail!
