I would be very grateful if anyone who has been seen by the Marion Gluck Clinic could PM me. I am thinking of going to see them about my under active thyroid, alternative treatments and a general hormone assessment. It is expensive for an initial consultation so I'm trying to find out as much as possible.
Many thanks in advance.

I and my daughter have seen Dr Marion Gluck a few years ago. She is very thorough and very expensive. I saw her for my menopause problems, after having many expensive blood tests she prescribed me bio identical hormone cream, it did help but as I have gone through the menopause I don't need it any more. I personally don't think she has as much knowledge on Thyroid problems as Thyroid UK, at least she didn't when I saw her. My daughter on the other hand saw her for severe PMDD, she tried to help her with bio identical hormones, but it wasn't until my daughter saw a different Dr at the clinic that he discovered she was sensitive to progesterone. My daughter ended up having a hysterectomy at 35, no children as she couldn't carry on feeling so bad with all the symptoms of PMDD. Hope this helps, not a very positive reply but that was our experience.
hi PK81, my daughter went to Marion Glucks clinic , she saw her a couple of times, when Dr Gluck was on holiday my Daughter saw a different Doctor who has since left the clinic. He runs his own clinic now, I could ask my daughter if she still has his number and pass it on to you if you would like it. I'm sure my Daughter will talk to you if you need any help. Best wishes Bev.
I have been today . very nice and doesn't mind me having researched and tried to learn. Took bloods for thyroid and all related ( plus female hormones as I am in menopause ). back next week for results. not cheap but looking at all my medical issues which are probably related.
Could you let me know how you're doing ? I'm really struggling with hot sweats all day & night ! At times I'm my joints & brrasts are very painful ! The worst thing is the weight gain around the tummy ! I'm not a fan of hrt & have tried so many natural alternatives ! Going acupuncture at the moment !! So I'm love to hear your story to date - thanks !
I have my hot flushes under control now and I did suffer like you, day and night. It was embarassing ! I am still on the Gluck hormones, we did try adding some DHEA in tablet form, but that just made me angry and irritable! I am very sensitive to all chemicals so no surprise there.
The only thing I would add is that I am 60 now and started the menoause around 10 years ago - so maybe I am through it anyway. I daren't stop the 'HRT' in case it starts up again. I have the weight gain around the tummy too and also tried many herbal remedies and also did try chemical HRT but couldnt get on with it.
So i think the Gluck stuff is effective and am pleased with it, although its not cheap. They give you 6 months worth of prescriptions but then insist you have a 'follow up' consultation before giving the next 6 months. I think this can be done over the phone but nevertheless, there is (always) a charge!
I have been a patient at the Marion Gluck clinic for 18 months. It has really helped my symptoms. I am early menopause (39 when it began). I am taking Bio-identical HRT and this has helped so much more than synthetic pills and patches I've tried from my GP. I am still putting on some weight and feel sooooo tired and cold after exercise so I think my thyroid may be a problem - will discuss at my next visit. Dr Amalia at the clinic really listens and although it is expensive for the consults and the creams, I feel blessed to have the support.
Hi Dr Emsie- thanks for replying to my post. I am now seeing a private functional doctor in Stirling as I live in Glasgow. I am 38 and got diagnosed with an under active thyroid a couple of years ago. I now take 175mcg of thyroxine but I don't feel totally great on it. The appointment I had was very interesting - the lady I see doesn't prescribe, she tries to get to the root of why I have thyroid dysfunction and iron deficiency in the first place - she believes that it is most likely to be down to SIBO or small intestine bacterial overgrowth that stops you absorbing vits and minerals from food and eventually whacks out all sorts of processes in your body. It sort of make sense to me that a lot of people's health issues start in the gut and end up having a huge knock on effect.
What sort of symptoms are denoting an early menopause for you? Have Marion Gluck put you on Armour or similar? Be good to hear how you are getting on as we are around the same age.
