One problem after another (now hurting jaw!)

The last 6 weeks (since my old mum died) have been a real struggle health wise. I have had a cold for almost 6weeks (I never usually get colds). My concern at the moment is tinnitus in my left ear (I've had this for almost 15 years) its as bad as ever coupled with a throbbing, pulsing sound. The other problem, since having my ears de-waxed is that my left jaw next to my ear is hurting (sometimes so bad I cant eat) and the inside of my ear is also tender (I'm almost deaf in this ear). Can anyone trow some light on this?

I'm sorry you are unwell at present - particularly dealing with the loss of your mother - it's quite hard.

However, with regards to tinnitus which is also a clinical symptom of hypothyroidism. Get a new blood test done if you've not had one for a while. Ask GP for a full thyroid function test, TSH, T4, T3, Free T4 and Free T3 seeing as you have symptoms and a sore jaw (I don't know of GPs are aware that tinnitus is a symptom and you may be undertreated).

Make the appointment for the blood test at the earliest and leave approx 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the test, fast also. Take levo after.

If you've not had a Vit B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate ask for these to be tested.

Get a print-out from the surgery with the ranges and post on a new question for comments.

I hope you feel better soon as I would think having tinnitus must be very wearing and you'd not be able to relax.

It sounds like you might have an inner ear infection on top of all that. Might be worth a trip back to the docs for antibiotics (sorry x)

I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom! It is so sad and life changing.

Do you have Hashimotos? Stress will flare up autoimmune disease and cause bizarre symptoms, that your doctor won't understand. No one has a cold for 6 weeks, unless there is an underlying problem. This has happened to me many times. I have had emotional set backs lasting 8 months.
