has anyone on this forum heard of or is taking Diatomaceous Earth?

I have just started taking it as it has so many health benefit claims plus it is natural

BUT IT MUST BE THE FOOD GRADE ONE FOR EATING!

IF anyone has been taking it awhile I would love to hear how it has affected your health please?

I have heard of it - I used to belong to an American low carb forum where someone reported amazing results from being on it. But I never was quite brave enough to try it myself...

Thanks JAZZ. i find that exciting and will continue to take it and report on this forum any benefits or problems from it

I use it for flea prevention on the cat ... he licks it off. He is not dead. But that doesn't prove anything.

thanks for the laugh, they say laughter is good medicine!

win_4ever,

Diatomaceous Earth is basically a pesticide. Good if you are treating gut bugs such as parasites or as AotN advised, treating cat fleas.

Being a natural product it does contain many essential minerals but I I think it better to get these from other sources.

I would use this product with caution.

I bought food grade from a raw food pet store but it had no official labelling, I got it to de-flea the dog and home, I scattered it liberally everywhere and I've never been able to hoover it out completely, and what's worse.... it didn't even work.

I took some only once in a glass of water and didn't notice any difference but after wondering where it did come from and what it might contain, I became a little worried and didn't try it again. I'd give it another go if I could find a supply that was labelled and contained all pertinent information, but I haven't been able to find any so far.

yes but I would never use anything without a proper label on it and also to research info about it.

I got mine from amazon and it is a food grade one.

Cannot comment on whether it works as I have only just started taking it.

As for your vaccuuming the powder, the info warnings does state not to be too liberal with the powder as it will block it up. ALSO NOT TO GET IT IN YOUR ANIMALS OR YOUR EYES AND NOSE.

Will post further when have taken D E for longer. It has good testimonies but everyone is different so will wait and see.

It seems to be OK if the animal licks it off the coat - you can't prevent that - perhaps it worms them as well. I put the cat inside a bin liner [apart from his head ;-)] and apply the DE by putting my hands through a hole in the bin liner. Then stroke to remove excess (still inside the bin liner). Then remove bin liner. Exit cat, pursued by a bear ... Does work, but not instantly as it works by dehydrating the fleas. Haven't tried it on myself.

Win, I used to dust the chickens and dogs with it, powder their bedding and mix it with their food to deter parasites and mites.

I have heard food grade DE recommended for people but don't know anyone who has taken it.

Not just for pest control...

I'm not recommending this (how could I, I've not tried it) but this explains the idea of using it a bit further:

I took it when I was detoxing from mercury poisoning, parasites, and candida. No problems with it. I'd take it again if the need ever comes up. It's quite gentle, and it doesn't take much to do the job. And yes, it absolutely must be high quality, food grade, and toxin free.

Interesting because only two days to relieve constipation. May I ask how much you take daily?

One teaspoon in the morning and one teaspoon at night, I watched a you tube video and they said to drink a lot of water as you can get dehydrated.
