Hi

I have a swelling on the right side of my neck the doctor is testing my thoird and sending me for an ultra sound, has anyone had the same problem?

Since seeing the doc to my throat is now sore and it's difficult to swallow

It is quite a common problem as you can see from the links above. It is good that your Doc is testing your blood for Thyroid - and you are having an ultrasound. When you have your blood test results post them in a new post for people to comment. Are you having just the TSH tested ? - or the full profile to include FT4 - FT3 and Anti-TPO - Anti-Tg.

It's good your doctor has sent you for a neck ultrasound, this should give them an idea what it is. Sometimes the thyroid can enlarge overall and sometimes it's nodules inside the thyroid. Some nodules can get large enough to press on your windpipe and or esophagus and cause breathlessness or swallowing problems.

You might be more aware of this now and your neck, hence more conscious of it feeling sore.
