2nd blood tests in to include RT3, Selenium and Mercury.

I finally got my 2nd blood blood tests in which perhaps will give a better idea as to what my body is doing?

RT3 0.57 ng/ml Range .09-0.35

Selenium 1.61 umol/l Range .89-1.65

Mercury 216 nmol or 43.33 ug/l

Ranges for France and Quebec <75

Ranges for Finland <50

So it looks like my I have both a conversion and Mercury problem?

Could the high Mercury be causing my conversion problem?

All ears!!

Now, I have to not only lower my Hashimotos antibodies plus my Mercury levels.

Any ideas on how to detox for Mercury if I am a Veg who doesn't eat meat and eats fish almost at every meal???

Enfrance, the protocol for reducing rT3 is to stop taking thyroxine and use T3 only for about 3 months to clear unconverted T4.

Mercury level is high. I don't know how you reduce it but having any amalgam fillings checked and investigating whether there are high levels of mercury in fish would be a good place to start.

Clutter-Okay. I am still wziting for my T3 to arrive. I have read that sometimes it is normal to have some RT3.

I plan on staying with your directions previously which is to start out slowly with the T3 and continue with the Naturethroid-should I still do this?

Some rT3, yes, but you're is well over-range. It will make you feel bad.

If I were you, when the T3 arrives, I would stop the NDT immediately. I did warn you that it might not suit. To clear out the rT3 you need to stop all forms of T4, because it will just continue to convert to rT3. You must go onto T3 only.

Do you eat a lot of tuna? That's the worst one for mercury. As Clutter said, check out your dental fillings. If you stop the in-put of mercury, the body will detox itself.

Enfrance, T4 converts to T3 and rT3. rT3 is inactive and is a natural brake on converting too much T4 to T3.

Your rT3 is over range which may prevent T3 entering receptor cells. You can reduce the amount of thyroxine you are taking by reducing NT and adding T3. The T3 will boost low FT3 and stimulate better conversion of T4 to T3.

If that doesn't work you'll need to stop NT and take T3 only for 3 or 4 months to reduce rT3. Once it's in range you can reintroduce NT.

Okay, battered and bewildered. I will proceed accordingly. Once God willing the T3 shows up I will stop the Naturethroid.

I stay on T3 for the 3 or 4 months and keep you both abreast.

**As for the T3 if it arrives....and I take ONLY the T3 how much do I take to start since I won't take the DNT now with it?

Yes, I do eat alot of canned tuna. I love swordfish and I think I have 2 amalgram fillings..shoot!

Going forward, I will cut these out. I will try these ways first before yanking out my fillings agh!

I am also looking into glutathione recycling to help detox...as if I don't already have homework!! Bof!!!

No ideas if the high mercury level is contributing to the conversion problem?
