I have a puzzling problem that someone might help me understand. I am hypothyroidism and I have lost all of my pubic hair. Does anyone know if these are connected? I was on Synthyroid for 20+ years but my doctor has me off the Synthyroid & on Cytomel. I would appreciate any help/connection! THANKS! bh

Bhohstadt, loss of body, pubic and underarm hair is a common hypothyroid symptom. Check your thyroid levels, FT3 in particular, because high FT3 also causes loss of hair.

Clutter, did you mean RT3. I thought high FT3 is what we want to see?

Ariel, no, I meant FT3 high over range.

Hi.... I know that hypopituitarism and low testosterone can cause this and low ferritin levels can cause hair loss. Did this occur after your medication changes? Were you unwell on synthyroid? You should get some helpful responses and I hope you're doing well on Cytomel 🍀 Lx

Polina44, Thanks so much! It helps me understand this better. Time will tell about my hair! bh

Mines gone too and my underarm. I am hypo. I think Dr P says its an adrenal symptom.

Mine gone on legs, under arms and most of pubic, is it too much t3 clutter or cortisol related? Does that mean being t3 only automatically leaves no hair? I thought it might be to do with hc?

Hi, I've lost my underarm and pubic hair, it started 10 years ago. I have really low cortisol, but the latest test showed low DHEA too. I've taken DHEA for a few months and I've had a few hairs in my armpits grow, plus my pubic hair has grown a little. I've always read it's an adrenal/DHEA problem.

another common hair loss area is the outer third of eyebrows .

My eyebrows grew back once my Levo had been increased but recently I realised I have lost all my underarm hair but I don't know when it happened ....weird eh

I have lost a lot of my pubic hair, all my underarm hair, almost the whole of my eyebrows, in fact most of my body hair. My head hair is disappearing in droves, but, I seem to be growing more on my chin! Hypo is wonderful, not!
