It will be an anxious time for both of you and these are a couple of previous links until someone is able to answer your post. I assume GP has checked/will check for antibodies as that would mean it is an Autoimmune Thyroid Disease rather than Hypothyroidism although both are autoimmune conditions. Also a Free T4 and Free T3 should be taken but in the UK they aren't often taken.

This is an extract from another post:

In the UK it is recommended that the TSH of women planning to conceive should be in the low normal range 0.4-2.0. TSH >2.0 can make conception difficult and increases the risk of miscarriage. Levothyroxine is usually increased by 25-50mcg when pregnancy is confirmed as the foetus is dependant on maternal hormone during the first trimester.

The levothyroxine will be increased until your wife's TSH is lowered. Two links which may be informative:

hypothyroidmom.com/thyroid-...

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Sometimes we have to be one step ahead as many GPs might not increase levo when it reaches somewhere in the 'normal range' when it should be low normal.

I wish you both a good pregnancy.

I should have said that a blood test is taken every six weeks with an increase in levothyroxine to bring TSH level down.

Congratulations, Hari. Your wife should increase her Levothyroxine by 50mcg and have a follow up blood test in 4 weeks in case a further increase is required.

Thank you very much....Doctor had increased the Levothyroxine by 100mcg. I wanted know within how many days the result of increased Levothyroxine show on high TSH.
