Can someone tell me why I am thirsty all the time

I have had all tests and not diabetic.

I wake up in the morn like this and always feel dehydrated.

I'm waiting to see doc on Monday about increasing thyroxine.

Any thoughts?

Annette, how much fluids are you drinking?

Hi Clutter. I drink at least 5 pints a day. It's very strange that this has really just started in the last 4 weeks. I haven't been feeling very well and think I need increase in thyroxcine. I am also getting headaches which I never did befoe. I have been reaserching a lot and one thing that pops up us b6 deficiency or toxicity. I could be wrong. I have been taking a b complex. I am also having numbness and tingling which my doc doesn't think is related to my b12 as my numbers are now at 2000 with supplementing. My legs are also weak and my calf muscles sore. Could low thyroid cause this or b12 I really don't know. I feel so poorly.

Annette, 5 pints isn't a lot, it won't hurt to drink another 2-3 of pints. What are your thyroid results? Low thyroid does cause muscular pain and may be causing the numbness and tingling if B12d is ruled out. Magnesium is good for muscles.

Thanka Clutter. I will up the water tomorrow and see if it makes a diff. As far as I can remember my last TSH was 1.37 think cut off was 4.1. T4 was 15 cut off 21.

I can't tolerate any type of magnesium it leaves me fatigued and irritable. Think it has something to do with my adrenals.

Annette, there's room for a Levothyroxine increase without overmedicating you.

Thanks Clutter yes I have appt with Doc on Mon I am demanding increase. One more question.. I was going through some of my results and found my liver ALT is low.!! I have looked this up and it can be a sign of low B6. Have you ever heard of this?

Annette, no I'm not familiar with the reasons for low ALT.

I had excessive thirst as a side effect of levothyroxine. Each dose increase.

I am on a generic levo by mercury pharma. I was very ill. Tested for diabetes which was negative. Given 2 weeks of antibiotics. No better. In the end I was peeing and drinking all day. I stopped levo temporarily as I felt I'd be hospitalised. Thirst went the next day and symptoms improved over a few days. I reinstated levo at reduced dose 6 days later when I felt it was safe. The doctors did not recognise it as a side effect and made me very ill. They could have split doses across day it alternated old dose/new dose every other day to help me tolerate it. I alternated dose for myself in the end until I could tolerate new dose after a couple of months titrating up by alternating.
