Yes, because without the ever-grinding wheel of commerce the "elite" would have no money to be elite with. And we won't even start on all the poor Indians and Chinese needed to make all the goodies that we buy so the "elite" can keep making their elite profits.

It's just bad business to kill working populations, and to do it in such a random slapdash way as death by overeating. The Nazis used gas chambers; it sure as hell beats death by Cadbury's for efficiency.
