Sandcastle, I think it's supposed to be helpul preventing flare ups with some autoimmune diseases.

Maybe I am grasping at straws!

Sandcastle123, the on label use has been approved by FDA for opioide and alchol dependancy and there are some clinical trials into off label uses but I've no idea if it is approved or available for use in the UK.

It depends on what you want it for. You are not necessarily grasping at straws. I used it for neuropathic pain. It helped.

It's low dose and as far as I could tell, zero side effects. Some people report sleep disturbance. initially, at least.

Over here in Canada it needs to be compounded because the pills are 50 mg each and a daily dose is about 4.5 mg. You can buy the pills on line (we can't) and dilute according to instructions which are readily available on Youtube.

It's recommended to start low, 1.5 mg per day and work up every 3 days by 0.5 mg until you get to 4.5 mg. Some people need a bit more.

I shall be in Canada next week and will look into it. I have pudendal nerve pain and don't like taking strong pain killers plus they don't work

YOu can't get it here without prescription. Compounding pharmacies charge a small fortune.

Took it to see if it helped with ME/hypothyroidism. It didn't, but it did remove arthritic pain.

I'm sad to see that it's not helping with hypo... Did it happen to make it worse?

No, it didn't so no damage done. It's worth a try as we all respond differently to these type of treatments.

Hi. I took it for a year to help my 'fibromyalgia' and it worked to a certain degree. Turns out I've an under active thyroid thou. I got it from dicksons chemist. It's cheap, safe and my doctor was aware and happy for me to take it. Good luck x

Lainey, is it available without prescription?

If you google dickson chemist ldn it will take you to their ldn website and direct you to the doctor you have to email and he'll email you back. If he ok's it, the prescription request is sent by doctor to Dickson chemist . Then they send it directly to you. You only have to pay for one off fee to doctor £30 approx then for medication and prescription every 3 months. Start on a very low dosage and prepare for a week of insomnia. Good luck x

Thanks Lainey, I wasn't sure if it was prescription only. I'm not planning to take it but the information will be useful for others.

It didn't help with your hypothyroid?

Hi

Dr. Chris Steele has a video on Youtube,

Sorry I can't copy it onto here.

I've been offered a prescription for this by Dr SM, but when it arrives (next week, I hope) I have to send it up to Dickson's pharmacy in Glasgow, then I have to pay them direct over the phone. I believe you can get it direct from them if you meet certain criteria, but I can't remember where I read that - sorry.

I'm actually looking forward to trying this and I'll be pleased if it helps with any of my myriad symptoms. It seems to work best, from what I can gather, in neuropathic and autoimmune illness.

I have taken it for quite a long time - first time was for over two years. I stopped it for a while as my body seemed to have gotten used to it and I couldn't see it was working anymore. I restarted recently and it is working again, but I have to take breaks (almost as if my body clears something out... I really don't understand it... So I'm still fiddling around with dosing).

I had to start on very low doses (0.75 mg) and increase them very slowly (by 0.25mg) as I seemed to get a herxheimer reaction each time I increased.

I take it for autoimmune diseases (including Hashimoto's). I found it helped with pain, enabled deep sleep for the first time in years (albeit at first with some weird nightmares) and the main benefit was increased stamina... The stamina thing was amazing as it helped me to get put of the house and complete a course.

You can get it without prescription from abroad, if necessary. For me this is the cheapest method.
