Could some one please tell me does NDT work better than synthictic levothyroxine? I'm pemanantly tired I'm on 125 a day I'm 5ft and weight 15st........ I belive that I'm on to lower does for my size! As everybody's normal is different, I.e. if u have an 5ft 8st woman and me we wudnt have the same dose tablets b cos I'm bigger so i would need more meds.

Suz62, Dosing isn't calculated according to weight but to blood levels ie TSH, FT4 and FT3. If you post your recent thyroid results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) members will advise whether you are optimally medicated on 125mcg.

NDT may work better than Levothyroxine for some people but it doesn't suit everyone.

I couldn't swear to it but I'm pretty sure that it has nothing to do with your size or weight. I started NDT 2 weeks ago. Prior to that I was only on 75 mcg of thyroxine. Most of the time that was an ok dose for me when looking at my TSH and FT4 yet with a lot of people that's merely a starting dose. Incidentally, I'm 5 feet 2 inches and weigh 11 stone. I'm still tired but hopefully the NDT will work for me soon. I started it with my GP's blessing because I was failing to convert T4 to T3. If it doesn't work then I will try T3. Hope you get some more advice. Clemmie

l would take what you are prescribed as sounds a lot to me l only take 75mcg , l probably weigh as much as you but l am 5ft 7ins, l think tiredness goes with the disease, l have graves, but seem to be stable most of the time , don't know if that helps
