I didn't read this yet, but my aunt who had graves and rai as a teenager, then told she didn't need her thyroid meds anymore, based on a test, got terrible osteoporosis and she had cancer and horrible gnarling arthritis, where the fingers get really disfigured. She got all this after being pulled off thyroid hormone. I never once thought it was due lack of Calcium. Excuse the lack of caps..it's easier not to do it.

The problem is, doctors are very ready to hand out the calcium suppléments without giving it a second thought. And calcium can do more harm than good. But they are so stuck with their heads in the sand that it's like a reflex action. So, whatever it is that causes osteoporosis, one's got to keep shouting 'lay off the calcium!' and start using your brain.

Your poor aunt, how terrible for her! And there was not internet in those days for her to find out what was wrong. I honestly Don't know how doctors manage to sleep at night with all the harm they do. Or are they totally oblivious to the conséquences for their patients?
