Sorry to post again, I'm just looking for advice as to would anybody know if having blood test when you have a flu type illness would affect the TSH. Would the reading be higher or lower? Didn't realise I was unwell until later that day, and result surprised me a bit.

Tsh
Interesting question and I do not know the answer to this but I would guess at yes it would affect the results and would ask to be tested again" On a slightly different note (but still part of the endocrine system and hormones) my husband is diabetic and colds affect his blood test results hugely.
Hopefully someone more knowledgable will post an answer.
Please mention your result then we can advise.
Sorry ended block and replace 7weeks ago. Feel awful but tsh came back as 3.6 upper range is 6 . tsh when I came off block and replace was nearly 9. T4 is around 16 and was 19 when I came off the medication.
Base on this article tiredthyroid.com/blog/2015/... it looks like the flu uses up T4, so I'm guessing that TSH should rise to produce more T4 to fight off the flu.
But with your being on block and replace, I don't know if your body would respond the same way. TSH is typically lower in Graves' patients, unless they're in remission. I would recommend retesting when you're well, if you feel the results don't reflect how you feel.
Thanks for the advice
