I had bypass 1992, had first thyroid surgery 2004. Only 1/2 was removed. In 2010 had other 1/2 removed, both times due to cancer. In 2011 I had gastric revision. I am finding now I am having trouble with leveling out tsh level. Did some research myself and found it could be due to not absorbing synthtoid correctly. Talking to doctor endor today about being put on gel capsule.

Welcome to the forum, Twest.

Gastric surgery can adversely affect absorption of medication and nutrients and you may need high doses of thyroxine to overcome this, particularly if your TSH needs to be suppressed post thyCa. Do you have recent thyroid blood results with the lab ref ranges you can post and how much Synthroid are you currently taking?

You might also have your doctor check your levels of ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate. Levels are often low in hypothyroid patients and your gastric issues may also affect them. Low/deficient levels can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood, similar to hypothyroid symptoms.
