Have you gained weight anywhere else? When I was hypo. I also gained a larger bosom also leaking a milk -like substance is a hypo. symptom.

Hi Katy,

I am sorry you are feeling so uncomfortable but as jaxbreeze says, have you gained weight overall? If so you are probably not on a sufficient dose of levothyroxine.

If you've had a recent blood test for your thyroid gland, get a print-out from the surgery, with the ranges and post on a new question.

Sometimes the GPs keep patients 'in range' with regards to the TSH and that doesn't suit many of us and keeps us unwell. Weight gain is another important issue as it is a clinical symptom of hypothyroidism and if not on sufficient medication weight gain can keep increasing.

If you've not had a recent blood test, request one and also ask for Vitamin B12 Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate as we are usually deficient. Ask your GP for a Full Thyroid Function Test which should check more than TSH and T4, i.e. T3 and Free T3 (free T3 would be the most important but they rarely, for some unknown reason, do this.

Sorry to hear that. It sounds uncomfortable. I was very bloated on levo alone, so a lot of me was bigger. A little t3 sorted it out for good.

Katymoonbeam, is there a female GP at your practice you would feel more comfortable discussing it with?

Do the rashes itch like crazy? Try canesten 2% thrush cream. ... You have to ask at the counter for it... The stuff you get on the shelves is 1%.

Hi, my breast tissue increased dramatically I was massive you saw them coming before you saw me. It's absolutely aweful my heart goes out to you. My daughter who I believe is also hypo and takes 12.5 t3 also has massive breasts. When I had my last mammogram the nurse told me to use caneston cream. She said this is what the advise all ladies with larger breasts. Mine have decreased since starting T3. They are still large but looking more normal. I hope that you get some messages which are able to help you. :-)

As far as I have understood things, large breasts are typical of women who have a lot of oestrogen in their systems. High oestrogen levels are said to suppress the thyroid, so you end up with a vicious circle.

But that is great news from rubyred - that her breasts decreased in size after taking t3 - and I hope that gives you hope, katymoonbeam!

Instead of using canesten - would tea tree/colloidal silver work too to avoid using a product? Have to say I'm big busted and haven't had any problems with infections but I do use tea tree shower gel?
