So, following on from this theory, it would seem that those night-lights we put in childrens rooms are doing them more harm than good. Personally, I don't like being in total darkness - too vivid an imagination! So, what hope for me?!?

I sleep in total darkness, I started doing it a couple of years ago when I was first diagnosed with Graves and I find I sleep really well. My husband hates it though - says its 'too dark' but I stood my ground and the bedroom is totally blacked out dark. If I ever forget to pull the blackout curtains I waken up with the light and have to get up and fix them.

Theres a street lamp outside my house - saves me a fortune in leccy bills but not sure the council will move it :/

I try to use blackout blinds but they're not marvellous. Actually trying to move house right now (not because of the lamp lol) and will certainly not buy one like this again

Yes, I have a street light both sides of my house. Shutting doors is complicated (dog) and then there is the car park one side, with car lights swishing past on the ceiling all night, and a bar on the other side that has a huge illuminated sign on all night. I'd love to move but can't afford it. :(

Oh gosh - Blackpool seafront might be a better option. I feel for you and dont know how you get any quality sleep at all :(

lol Yes, I might prefer it! lol but no, it's not quite as bad as I paint it, I guess, and I do sleep rather well, most of the time. But getting a tablette for Christmas the other year, did not help! I'm glad I now know where i was going wrong.

Thankfully I live in the country and total darkness (at least on moonless or cloudy nights) is a huge benefit! Even when there are no clouds, the sight of the stars is comforting and a full moon casts an entirely different like to the nasty streetlamps that everybody insists on leaving on all night!

Sounds blissful, Zephyrbear. But I wouldn't like to be out at night in a town without street lights! Too many nutters out there!

Yes, but in a very small Welsh village, they are totally unnecessary between midnight and 5am. Just a waste of electricity...
