Hi does this test indicate a underactive thyroid ?

Shazzy, TSH 2.72 is within ref range but NHS don't consider any symptoms are thyroid related until TSH is >5. Many forum members have felt very unwell with TSH 2.72.

Your creatinine is raised do you have kidney disease? If not your GP should investigate this further.

Hi it's actually my friends blood tests she asked me to put them on she told me she has always had underactive thyroid and has lots of signs unfortunatly she some where got lost between seein a private doctor to a nhs one she has ended up with heart problems and Alzheimer's I hav taken her to doctors and this was the result of test il make a app about kidneys thank you

If your friend has untreated hypothyroidism, then it can seriously affect the way the brain works. Brain fog, memory problems, an inability to plan, are all symptoms of hypothyroidism which can all be improved if the thyroid problem is properly treated. The same comment applies to heart problems.

Another effect of thyroid problems is vitamin and mineral deficiency. Your friend should ask for her vitamin D, vitamin B12, folate, iron and ferritin to be tested, and then she must ask for her results including reference ranges.

Since she has been diagnosed with dementia, I suspect her vitamin B12 is likely to be deficient. Iron/ferritin being low will damage the heart.

And all this should be done quickly. All the time she is deficient in vitamins and minerals and thyroid meds she is damaging her brain and heart more and more. Her memory problems and heart damage can be improved if she acts quickly.

Unfortunately, with a TSH of 2.72 (which is too high for most people), she is unlikely to get much help from the NHS and she will almost certainly have to treat herself. I would bet that her Free T3 is very low in range or possibly even below it.

Yes thank u I know I have underactive thyroid Iv had it for over 9 yrs I'm on t3 as thyroxine does not work and I also have in tollerance to t3 so I'm on a high dose I had no memory until I saw the fantastic pioneer dr p I'm on supplements and with in 2 was my memory had come back I still take them now I no the battle most of us face believe me ! But Iv found a great nhs endo who nos all about dr p and believes in t3 and many other thing so alls good with me unfortunatly my mums friend is in her early 80s now she was on thyroxine years ago but nothing now her hair is very thin and belly is swollen she has irregular heart beat along with other serious heart probs which prob hav been caused by the untreated thyroid she has no eyebrows and hardly any lashes it makes me so angry that people can end up like this and the end result being Alzheimer's dementia ect it's terrible thank god I found and saw dr p when I did as I could have ended up like this if I hadn't researched everything myself and wouldn't take take no for a answer

Any TSH over 2 warrants further investigation. 95% of healthy people have a TSH under 2.5. Your GFR is very slow which indicates kidney disease, but can also be slowed by hypothyroidism as it has the effect of slowing everything down. Raised creatinine was one of the clinical signs used to diagnose Hypo before the TSH test came in, although it can have other causes.
