I think I agree with you... Tumour on the pituitary indeed...
I have left a comment.
Poor, poor woman, horrific proof of the NHS's failings?
I’ve joined the FB group “Laura needs our help”, where there seems to be a lot of sound and fury, but it does not signify much at the moment. It seems that the group is currently a bit disorganised and unsure of its purpose, but there’s certainly a hell of a lot of support there.
It looks as if the plan is to raise money through donations so Laura can see someone privately. They have someone in mind, but presumably if this doctor also works on the NHS, Laura could get a referral anyway.
A couple of people have posted knowledgeably about Cushings, but I would put money on this being as a result of the pituitary tumour and I cannot understand why the NHS are not just dealing with it.
Mystery illness my eye!!!! Not a mystery to us. Have you noticed her neck? Difficult to see her eyebrows becuse of the make-up, but I bet she's lost the outter third. Makes you Wonder if her doctors actually went to med school at all. They're no better than some of the ignoramuses that commented on the article. It's really frightening the level of ignorance about these things.
It beggars belief, doesn't it? And yes, those eyebrows are quite something, so it's very hard to tell, but the fact that she's coloured them in so much would suggest they're sparse.
I reckon she's prime Hashi's material (she's already mentioned something autoimmune but I think I also spotted some vitiligo on her arms). That would explain why she had the energy to keep herself in shape 9 months ago (maybe she was hyper then). And the benign pituitary tumour - purleeese...
Hope all the hoo-ha has resulted in her GP being very embarrassed. I'd be inclined to name him and shame him - and the useless hospital who've told her they can't find anything wrong.
Unless of course there's more to this story than meets the eye...
My goodness, she looks so hypothyroid. I wonder if the doctors did a FT3 test on her?
She had a tumour on her pituitary gland but that couldn't possibly be related ...
I've asked her about the eyebrows and explained about losing the outer third, but I haven't had a response yet. The story has now gone global and the FB group is now getting clogged up with people who believe that the Lord will provide.
It s kinda difficult to get straight answers, but given that a prolactinoma doesn't seem to give the symptoms she has, I wonder whether she just has v high prolactin, which I know I did when I was very very hypo, and someone has assumed that there is a benign tumour there.
Yes, I've seen the Facebook page, including the posts she herself has made, which include:
"Well I've seen myself far too much these last couple of days hehe. I cringe at the video haha. And the sensationalised nonsense about my past 'gym going days' wth?! I've always been too poorly with my Primary Immune Deficiency for anything like that and i love on my own but the rest is true so hey ho. Labelled a 'human waterbed,' I just pray an expert Specialist of some sort will see all this and know how to help me!! And to help me raise funds as going private will cost a bomb!! I'm now researching neurosurgeons and Endocrinologists to book my first private appointment with. Not sure on Endocrinologists. I am told it's not Cushings as my adrenal glands don't produce cortisol anymore. I think from what I've read i need to have that Pituitary gland tumour removed. But that's going to cost alot. Thank you all so much for your ongoing support i couldn't do this without you! Swelling is really bad today and can't stand on my feet without alot of pain. On top of all this i have yet another infection of my chest and sinuses Ugh"
and
"Well...This afternoon i had my GP out to me because after travelling in an ambulance (the bone shaker) to & from my Endocrinologist appointment in Oxford my poor lil trotters were majorly swollen. I can't even walk around me bungalow at all today. My fluid is worse today. GP gave me antibiotics for my chest infection, sinus infection plus uti soooo grear eh? Lol. I'm so popular with bacteria/bugs. Anyhow, i told her about my Endocrinologist and how he still hasn't a clue why I'm continually gaining fluid. She sympathised and said it looks REALLY painful. No s***! Yes it is! Now can you refer me to a neurosurgeon or another Endocrinologist please?! I still got fobbed off!!! She said, "Well someone in secondary care should do that, not me really." Seriously!! This is what I'm up against. It's ridiculous. So...I have a couple of doctors suggested by people and I'm researching which one to spend my first private appointment on..."
Poor thing. Seems that she has some good friends though.
Just as a matter of interest,, Laura posted some thyroid results last night. Her TSH was varied between 2.6 and 4.9, so In most of the known world she would be hypo - no question.
