I've taken pain relief after taking NDT, if that counts? No adverse effects for me, though I'll be watching this thread now to see what others say!

Ging, I had considerable fibro and joint pain when I was on Levothyroxine (T4) only. Adding T3 to T4 has enabled me to tolerate T4 and I no longer have pain. I did have to clear the build up of T4 from my system for 3 months before the T3+T4 combination worked.

Oh right - I completely misread that question, didn't I? :)

Yes, I have had pain relief. You have to have sufficient. T3 goes directly into our receptor cells for our metabolism as it doesn't need to be converted like T3 does.

One of my symptoms of being hypo is that I start to ache all over and feel as though I am ill but within 20 to 30 minutes of taking a T3 dose, it all goes away. Unfortunately, if I am even very slightly overmedicated, I get similar aching, which can last all day. Nothing is easy with thyroid issues!

I had pain relief on dropping T4 completely. I went from having severe joint pain and barely being able to walk to now being able to move around normally. For me it was more the stopping t4 than starting t3 but the t3 does help too.

ging - Yes there is! I use T3 for the circadian method and stuck to NDT for daytime for a few months. Mornings were definitely better, but I had increasingly more pain as the day went on. Last week there was almost constant pain: neck, shoulders, arms, thighs, joints everywhere, teeth even. I hadn't exercised in weeks. I spent most of the time sofa-bound. I decided to go T3-only yesterday. Maybe it's only temporary but the difference is amazing. I'd say 50% pain reduction. I even managed 15 minutes of pilates.

This approach will need careful monitoring and adjusting; but if all else has failed. - why not try it if everything else is optimised (cortisol, vitamins, digestion etc.), T3 is hard work for the adrenals.

Good luck to everyone who is trying to get better, whichever method you chose!
