Hi,
I have had this for a very long time, can feel quite lumpy and scaly. Unfortunately I have never had a treatment answer to this. I also have other dashing and bad reaction to light (skin).
Currently waiting on Endo blood tests.

There have been quite a few queries about the same condition. I don't know personally but there might be info for your daughter:-
Try the Nioxin scalp treatment - I had it done at the hairdressers but you can maybe get it online. I then used the shampoo & conditioner for about 2 months til I got my meds right. It helped so much
Link added - hope that's OK.
I would recommend coconut oil, it is safe, contains no chemicals and does a great job. Put it in hair and leave overnight, then wash as normal. Alternatively, put in hair in the morning for a couple of hours and then wash as normal. may need to repeat this a few times a week. Hope it helps
Try a diluted apple cider vinegar rinse and leave it on. it won't leave an odor. Someone suggested rubbing baking soda on the scalp before shampooing but I'm not sure what the theory is behind that. It's still more economical than all the other products.
I too had an extremely itchy scalp - Nettle and Jasmine shampoo from Virvana Naturals has cured it; I cant recommend it highly enough, fantastic stuff.
I sometimes get itchy scalp. Some shampoos and conditioners are full of chemicals that strip the hair and scalp. I found my head was worse with pantenne and tresemme. Aveda have some good shampoos that are more natural. They are a bit expensive but it's worth it to stop your head itching. Their shampoos don't always lather first wash but this is a good sign that the shampoo doesn't have too many chemical detergents in it. At the moment I'm using Tigi Bedhead Elasticate and that is OK. Coconut oil is good for your scalp as mentioned above. Also if you do get dry scalp my mum has found bio-oil is fantastic.
To find out whether she has lice, just get a louse comb (plastic is best & cheapest) from the pharmacy, use hair conditioner and then comb through strand by strand. If she doesn't have lice, in addition to the above recommendations, it may be worth checking out if she has Candida albicans - does she have any of the many symptoms (e.g. bowel problems, itchy skin etc.)? - there is a lot of information on this (books & websites) see e.g. Dr. Myhill's website re Candida albicans & Dysbiosis drmyhill.co.uk/.
I find loads of different shampoos, conditioners or hair products (hairspray, heat defenders etc) will give me an itchy scalp - even some of the Aveda range which are all natural ingredients, so they say. I do however mostly use an Aveda shampoo and conditioner now - or Herbal Essences range.
In my 20s a doctor gave me coal tar shampoo as I had such an awful dry itchy scalp. If her scalp is really bad, get her to visit the doctor, but my first thing would be to look at what she uses on her hair. Also have a chat with the pharmacist.
I've also noticed that certain hair products will produce an outbreak of eczema on my eyelids - that one took me years to figure out! (I'm in my 50s now)
Good luck.
use Nettle & Jasmine from Nirvana, it's the most incredible product!
try nettle & jasmine from Nirvana Natural, it worked wonders for me for the past 15 years.
Where about do you get the Nettle and Jasmine Shampoo about?
