Emma, Pituitary gland senses the circulating hormone in the blood and increases thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) to prompt the thyroid to produce more thyroxine (T4) when it is low.
TSH should be in the lower range of 0.4-2.0 with FT4 in the top 75% of range during the 1st trimester. Your dose has been increased because TSH is at the top of the range and FT4 looks a bit low, although you haven't been given the range.
You should have another thyroid blood test 6 weeks after the increase to check levels.
