I took a small dose of Pregabalin for a short time, to help with chronic pain. I had to give it up because I simply couldn't stay awake. I was sleeping for about 16 - 18 hours out of every 24.

Thank for replying to my message

Not sure what dose he has given me yet he said it was a very small dose, the prescription was sent directly to the Pharmacy so have not seen it yet.

I take .05 Lorazepam and Zopiclone 3.75 a day.

I rang him yesterday because this Fibro pain and anxiety had become so unbearable since my husband had a stroke 9 weeks ago, and he said it would be a small dose, tried several antidepressants had too many side effects and no benefits, was hoping this one might work

Hubby is coming home in the next few days with a package of care, so need to stay awake.

I am 78, hubby 82.

Has it been prescribed for neurological pain?? What dose??

I take tegretol for Trigeminal Neuralgia (same family of anti convulsants) and find it really good for neuro pain. Humanbean is right though, they can make you feel very tired and a bit like a zombie until you get used to them.

I am not sure yet what dose I am on, because I rang my dr and I have been suffering very badly from Anxiety and Fibrobomyalgia, even worse since my husband has a stroke 9 weeks ago, I do do want to feel like a zombie because my hubby is coming home in the next few days and need to take care if him, do they upset your GI system,I am taking .05 Lorazepam and Zopiclone 3.75 so I think I had better ring him again to see whether it mixes with them

Take care

Pat.

Fibromyalgia is just poorly treated UAT and is a syndrome which means the doctor has a choice as to whether he treats or not!!

If it's 25mg twice a day then that is a very small dose. I was diagnosed with fibro around 8 years ago - though, since finding out that fibro and ME/chronic fatigue (which I also have a diagnosis of) may be misdiagnosed hypothyroidism I'm not convinced I really have it (besides, most of my joint pain has now been found to be due to osteoarthritis in various joints and also rotator cuff problems in my shoulders).

At the moment, I'm taking just 100mg at night. It doesn't help the joint pain much but it really helps me sleep (I also have insomnia). I'm hoping that, if I can improve my thyroid function with NDT which I'm now taking, I may eventually be able to come off it altogether.

It can have bad side effects - weight gain, tiredness, generally feeling like a zombie, etc - but on just 50mg per day you shouldn't have too many problems here. I do find, though, that I can't take even 25mg in the mornings or I'm unable to function through the day. I hope this won't be a problem for you but you need to be aware of it.

Are you being treated for thyroid problems? Might your pain be due to hypothyroidism rather than fibro? It's worth finding out about this.

Hello Fluffy

on my other site - folk with neuro trouble often have associated Fibro - as most are in the USA all sorts of drugs are tried. However I can't help but notice some things...

Low B12 - a big factor - USA folk take it as a painkiller for nerve pain, it works (or are they low B12?)

low Vit D3 (wrongly name a vitamin) bone problems, calcium absorption, depression

low Iron - pain, fatigue and palpitations - all of these are very common.

Please take some time for yourself (after all if you're not well, how can you be expected to help others?)

& get your vitamins/minerals tested in case it helps - are you on Thyroid hormone replacement too? although anxiety is one symptom of being over medicated conversely it can also be undermedicated, yes it is so confusing. You need to post your blood tests results, if you can, for folk to help.

Best wishes Jane :D
