I went to see my GP today and she has agreed to give me a trial of meds at 50mlgs I took my husband with me and also armed myself with all the info I have gained through this site. So now hopefully things will improve so yet again thanks for all the advice and support /x

Ann, that's great news. It usually takes 7/10 days for Levothyroxine to be absorbed and start relieving symptoms.

Take your Levothyroxine with a full glass of water on an empty stomach one hour before, or two hours after, food and drink, two hours away from other medication and supplements and four hours away from vitamin D3, calcium, iron and oestrogen.

Don't take your Levothyoxine until after your follow up blood test which should be in around 8 weeks.

Hi clutter

Does the above advice apply to taking t3 as well. Had been taking medication and supplements all in one go together first thing.

Churchie, yes it does. Food, drink, medication and supplements can affect absorption of thyroid medication which is why it should be taken on an empty stomach.

Hurrah. Hope you feel better soon

Well done Ann.let's hope things will now improve for you and your support from your GP will be continuous.I hope that your GP will be aware that you may need your dosage increased later on,if improvement doesn't last. Then your Levo should be gradually raised to an optimal level until you maintain a feeling of well being.
