Do you ever swap companies for your thyroxine?

I have had Wockhardt 25mg for ages, my pharmacist recently gave me some 25mg Mercury Pharma and I am sure this is making me symptomatic, anyone else stick to the same make?

Gillybean, It's advised to stick with the same make to avoid reactions. You can tell your pharmacist that MP doesn't suit you and request 25mcg Wockhardt be supplied and that they note this on their records. Mine did this when I asked to be supplied Actavis instead of MP Levothyroxine. It's a good idea to check what has been dispensed at the counter as pharmacies may not agree to exchange once you have left the pharmacy.

If the pharmacy won't co-operate (unlikely) ask for your prescription to be returned and get it filled somewhere else.

I was made very ill, 3 years ago by TEVA 100mcg tablets which were not delivering the correct dose. (The MHRS withdrew the licence) I then went on to actavis / almus- Boots brand and was fine until the GP decided to reduce my dose to 75mcg and so I had 50 mcg Almus and 25mcg Mercury Pharma. I then felt ill again and suspected the 25mcg tablets. Others on this site also reported problems with Mercury pharma, so now I make sure that I only have actavis/almus. If I need to change dose I shall ask for 50mcg tablets that I will then cut in half with a pill cutter to give 25mcg.

Too many GP's are dismissive of the problems with different brands of leveothyroxine due to the fillers being used in manufacture. Hope you get sorted

I think it's definitely best to stick with one brand for the avoidance of doubt, we can be very sensitive to the slight difference between them. I have MP for both 50s and 25s, I don't like Wockhardt at all! But once you've found one that works for you, make sure to ask specifically for it.

I, unlike mountaingoat83, can only tolerate Wockhardt and my GPs surgery have now noted this on my records. In the past I was given all sorts of brands (TEVA, Actavis, etc., etc.) which all made me itch all over to the extent that I ended up scratching myself raw. I was given a supply of Wockhardt one time and was relieved to find that all itching subsided, since when I have insisted on being given that brand only.
