Hi guys,
I was just wondering, the lump in my neck and under my chin, is that normal? It's only tender when I touch it.
Thanks.

No it is not normal. Anything change in the body should be reported to your gp. It could just be a swollen gland but you would not know until you have an ultrasound. Insist on an ultrasound. I had a lump near my thyroid which looked like an adams apple. They were just saying cos I am skinny. Then I told them I am quite concerned about it and insisted on an ultrasound. They sent be for a biopsy and it turned out to be cancerous. It is better to be safe. Even if the scan comes out normal atleast you would have got it checked before it is too late.
Thanks,
That picture was taken back on 24/09/2014. I didn't really make anything of it until tonight when I asked my mother if she had the same thing. I always thought it was Adam's apple but it's quite tender tonight.
Thanks
I'd say no. I just had a scan on a smaller lump than that and it showed up some nodules.
Emma, it's called a goiter and it can be caused by a Hashimoto's attack on your thyroid. Lumps/swelling should be investigated so make an appointment with your doctor so that s/he can palpate (examine) your throat and neck and, if necessary, order an ultrasound scan to check the condition and size of your thyroid gland and whether there are any nodules that need further investigation.
Thanks, my GP pointed out the goiter in January, endo in march said no need for ultrasound as thyroxine would make it go down, however, the small lump (left side on photo) under my chin as developed in the last month or so?
Emma, Get it checked by your GP, anyway
Thanks last blood test showed positive antibody's (unaware of the figures), will go back monday to sort it. Wish i just could take the thing out, it'll save me alot of hassle!
Emma, there is no way to be sure this is goiter without an ultrasound. Please insist on one right away. You should not have lumps that are left unchecked. Thyroid cancer is always a possibility.
