Hi, mt question is simple and because some people say you can take it sub, some people say no or most of it goes down the throat eventually. Obviously it would be handy if absorbed sublingually as less clashes with food etc, but where is the evidence wither way? Does anyone know??
Is T3 sublingually absorbed or not?: Hi, mt... - Thyroid UK
Is T3 sublingually absorbed or not?
Sulamaye, I've read that the molecules of T4 and T3 are too large to be absorbed sublingually.
I certainly take my NDT sublingually. I assume there must be some absorption or this would be reflected in the blood tests. In fact I feel worse if I try not taking it sublingually so I assumed that meant the absorption in the stomach was not as good for me.
What do others do? Would be interested to know - both for NDT and synthetic.
According to Paul Robinson - rwt3.com you are advised to break it down in the mouth and then swallow with lots of water - T3 that is.....away from food/calcium like T4....
If you take it sublingually it will just sit in the mouth and effectively go down the throat at some point , but the cells won't get it quickly in one go, so as per above crush with front teeth and wash it down
I take mine sublingually and find I feel different, much less aching, in about twenty to thirty minutes. I am taking small 5mcg doses each time.
Well it seems everyone has a different point of view and different experiences of how it works. Hmmm no conclusions there then. Thank you all though
I chew my t3 until it is a mushy powder and swallow with lots of water. I was told before not to do that so I swallowed them whole and didn't feel so good so went back to chewing it.
When I was on NDT I took it sublingually. Now I'm on T3 only and I take it sublingually. And I'm not dead yet! So, one way or another, it works for me. But we're all different, so the only way to find out if it works for you is to try it.
Hugs, Grey
