hi-- a bit confused you wrote " on where or how to obtain UK prescription only medications without prescription." the chemist i was referring to is in the states not UK and they do not require a prescription & this is NOT paid for by the NHS we have to pay ourselves-- so all in all it is a private matter for customers of the chemist in the states...so i am puzzled how this could contravene any UK rules, i don't believe the NHS is against a patient going private--if they cannot receive the medication they need over here, as a matter of fact the NHS sometimes even sends patients themselves to other countries for treatment, am i still in the wrong please let me know--ok--also we are not discussing heroine or some other illicit drug here, NDT was used in UK only recently till big pharma stuck their noses in, i am not being confrontational i only want 2 desperately-- feel better / normal -- sky

The forum rules say that, if a medicine is a prescription-only product in the UK, you can only discuss getting it by another means by private message. Contravening this could get the forum closed down.

Sky, posting guideline #22. Do not post advertisements, links or information of any sort whatsoever, on where or how to obtain UK prescription only medications without prescription.

For the avoidance of doubt, this means all medication which is prescription only in the UK, whether or not the medication is available without prescription from overseas pharmacies. It is permissible to ask members to advise via private messages where to obtain medication without a prescription.

Please familiarise yourself with the other posting guidelines

Thyroid UK does not actively encourage or promote self-medication, because of this, we ask that matters such as this are discussed via the messaging system.

This is not a new rule, it has been a part of our posting guidelines from day one.

They do not believe in self - medicating on here so any internet pharmacies have to be passed on by PM.

That is simply not the case.

Several of the admins are themselves taking various self-sourced medicines.

For several oft-repeated reasons the policy is not to put links directly in posts. That policy does not mean it is wrong to discuss all other aspects of self-treatment here.
