Ask your doctor for a print-out of your latest results, with ranges. See which tests have been done, and then go back and ask for any that have been omitted. Here's a list:

Thyroid antibodies, TSH, FT4, FT3 (insist on this one), Vit B12, Vit D, iron, folate, ferritin

When you have all the results, post them here. The clues will be there.

Oscar, you're not a fraud. 'Normal' is a very broad range and if you're TSH is high in range you will feel hypothyroid.

After RAI hyperactive patients usually become hypothyroid. It doesn't usually take 9 years though :) RAI usually destroys the thyroid gland but it can regrow so your GP ought to order an ultrasound scan to check out your goiter.

Ask your GP to test ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate as hypothyroid patients are often deficient/low and these deficiencies can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms. Post your results with the lab ref ranges and members will advise whether supplementation is required.
