Forgot to say I have lost 1 stone over the past 6 weeks (only 8.5 stone to begin with) and no one can find out why. Seeing lots of consultantsd.

I feel as if the T3 has been working on me like a diet pill!!

Sorry to keep asking

Daffers, T3 can cause weight loss which is why it's misappropriated as a 'fat burner' weight loss aid. The MP Liothyronine PIL suggests it may be over medication speeding up metabolism. I had the same problem on Levothyroxine but have gained 1kg on T4+T3 combination.

The endo says I have got to take bigger dose to bring my T4 up. Whst do you make of that ? He must think weight loss unrelated . Says it's anxiety.

T3 will not bring up your t4 levels.

T3 could have raised your metabolism sufficiently in that caused your weight to diminish. I assume you have no signs of overstimulation, i.e. very fast heart rate, too hot, etc etc.

How much are you taking? I'm taking 25mcg (self medicating for depression as nothing else is working). I do not found that it's helped me loose anything :( would have been nice as I'm 5 stone overweight. what I am finding is that I've started again with my afternoon slump (3pm, need a sleep and my body goes so cold. When I've had a sleep my temperature increases to boiling point) and inability to stay awake past 9pm. I've adrenal problems but it seemed ok for a while, been taking nutri adrenal extra.

Hi All

I have only been taking 18.5mcg. Yes I do have an elevated heart beat and feel as if I am racing all the time. I can't work out whether its the T3 content or the fillers in the Mexican pill. My hips are really hurting and I feel anxious and bad tempered.

Today my London practice sent me some Erfa to start instead. I took one (only 30mcg) this morning (and no other T3) and within a couple of hours all the allergy symptoms appeared, phlegm in throat and nose, etc. and the racing speeding up heart and brain and the shakes.

I dont know what to do now, is it the T3 and if so, will it wear off as its in a combination pill ? What is left that I can take, given I don,t know which component is upsetting me. Perhaps its both.

Clutter, how did you deal with the Levothyroxine problem - is that part of your current combination ? I dont think I can take that either unless I can find one without fillers.

Shaws, thanks for the advice, as you will read I am showing signs of overmedication and maybe have just made it worse by taking something this morning.

Ukangell, sorry you havent lost the weight you hoped might happen. I really dont understand this business at all.

Daffers, the usual rubbish from endos, "it can't possibly be anything to do with Levothyroxine". When I stopped taking it I gained 2.5kg in 3 months and lost the weight when I resumed taking it. Ditto the symptoms which kept me mostly bedridden. Adding T3 seemed to calm the effects of T4 but it took 5/6 months to gain a kg.

Some of your symptoms sound like overmedication, can you reduce the T3 slightly? Try taking an antihistamine an hour before your T3 or Erfa. If the phlegm is an allergic reaction to fillers the antihistamine should prevent it.

Have you tried liquid levothyroxine which doesn't have fillers?

Erfa flared up my Hashimoto's horribly. A flare up can cause those symptoms with mucus.
