active b 12 test results - can anyone explain them to me please?

105 pmol/L

ref 25- 108

25 pmol/ L vit b12

insufficient/ deficient 27 - 70

samples referred for MMA

analysis

70 pml/L Vit 12 replete

Haven't had this test before and would appreciate clarification of results, thanks

Artie, I believe deficiency is unlikely when active B12 is >35. Your active B12 is top of the range and your vitD 70 is good so you won't need to supplement until October-April when the light spectrum is too low for sunlight to skin conversion.

where did you have your test done? private or nhs and how much did it cost? im thinking of having this test done myself, was it blue horizon medicals?

Test done at Private hospital but sent to St Thomas Hospital, London for testing, not sure how much as a number done at same time,

I was quoted around £45 through The Doctors Labs Clinic , Wimpole St, London plus nurse fee of around £31 ish.

I understand it is possible to request this test through your NHS G.P and pay a small charge.

My own G.P. had not heard of the test and I left details with G.P. to read.
