Probably a silly question, but.........

Instead of increasing NDT by 1/2 every couple of weeks (I'm going by the STTM and Dr Peatfields info) - would it be better to increase by a 1/4 the first week, and then a 1/4 the second week? Or is it best to hoik it up by a full half in one fell swoop?

I was wondering if it's gentler to increase weekly by a quarter - or does the body have to stay on a static dose for a couple of weeks straight, with no increase at all?

I've been taking NDT for 15 days today, 1 grain. Not sure I feel any different yet (although I felt pretty good yesterday, might have been a fluke though!! I daren't say yet!) I took 1/2 for the first week, and then increased to a full grain the following week. I'm just not sure when to increase again....? Another week? Or shall I add in another 1/4 now?

Hope this makes sense - my brain isn't at full working capacity this morning :D

I would follow STTM and Dr P. They are both very experienced.

Yes I would go gently does it - I am up to 2 grains of NDT now - I was impatient and hiked it up too fast - felt hyper so dropped back and have increased it more slowy xx

sip, keep in mind the half life of T4 being about two weeks means you will not feel the full result of the dose you are taking until then.

Ok, that makes sense. Guess it's better just to wait two weeks between each increase then to see how things are going. :)

Oh, wait, have you been on Levo first and transitioning to NDT or starting from scratch? That might be treated differently.

No - only been taking NDT :)

If this is the first you have ever taken NDT, I'd follow the STTM Guidelines. Are you using the Mistakes Doctors Make page?

In essence you are really increasing every single day since each dose is being added while only half of previous doses are being subtracted. Kind of, sort of:) But your body is also processing what is in your system at any given time by conversions or reverses and cofactors, etc. Good to follow guidelines. Have you watched any videos I have posted to give you an idea how much your thyroid effects everything?
