Sorry to say that was my last batch and didn't do anything for me. I'm now on batch LF 03507A (02/17) and it's still not working.

LoriT on STTM reported:

"Angie I am one with a newer batch of 30mg x 500 EFRA Thyroid dated exp 2017, lot # LF03508A and am doing fine on them. They seem to be the old version, no shininess, no spots, no hardness, no deep indentations and no bad side effects."

so they may have reverted back. I really hope so!

Hi hypopotomus,

Thank you so much that's really helpful. I suspected they might be a bad batch. When I looked at them yesterday they seemed a bit speckled like my lat bad batch.

Interestingly I asked my pharmacist about it all. He was aware of the recent ERFA problem. I told him they they moved manufacturing plants to another country and then he said......yes........and told me that they have moved it again!

Now that seems a bit odd. From Belgium......to Spain.......and now somewhere else? This could be absolute rumour so I take it with a pinch of salt. But very interesting.

I'm sorry your still not doing well. Are you sticking with the ERFA or have you got hold of something else.?

I'm currently on WP thyroid. Very early days. Feel awful. But I am ever hopeful about the ERFA hence I got my endo to send another prescription for me. Might put this batch in the drawer and wait until someone says they've got a good batch!!

I've notified my endo of the problem and asked him if I can try something else. But I read that Nature-Throid had been reformulated and doesn't work like it used to, and West-Throid is made by the same company. I'm praying that they get the ERFA sorted PDQ.

WP THYROID has only 2 or 3 fillers. Made by RLC. it's their purest form. Might be worth a small purchase? Like I say it's early days for me on WP.......... But running out of options!

Are you still getting on ok with the WP Thyroid? Erfa is causing me some problems feels like it's not working

in reply to Alli1

Hi Alli,

Yes I was getting on fine with WP thyroid....not fully stabilised but I could feel an improvement. I did find it very gentle. Which I liked.

However I've switched over to ARMOUR only because it's much easier for me to get hold of and my endo and GP are more familiar with it.

I'm finding the armour MUCH stronger than either erfa or WP. Infact I had a situation where I tried to raise it last week and ended up in a dreadful state with anxiety off the scale!! So I've dropped back down again until I can tolerate it a bit more.

I really did like WP but it means getting it on line but with armour I can get it by private script from a local pharmacy.

I'm hoping that I will get used to the Armour but at the moment I'm still very undermedicated but having to raise exceedingly slowly so it's going to be a few months before I see real improvement.

For the life of me I don't know what happened to ERFA but sadly, I don't believe what Dr.Knafo says about there being no difference in recent batches.

If they move their production line away from Spain then I think that may hint at some manufacturing problem......something has gone wrong......heavens knows what?

But I know it wasn't just me!

I miss Erfa a lot because it suited me and felt gentle but I would not use it again because I can no longer trust the manufacturing process.

X

I hope you can settle with the armour it's strange and annoying how NDT's can differ. I get my Erfa on private script and I'm thinking of asking my Endo to change to armour but I'm worried about it not suiting me. I know what you mean about the Efra change and like you I don't believe Dr Knafo either. They definitely did something to it. I have felt very under medicated on it and I get a reaction on my tongue when I take it like a tingling so I think they have changed the fillers. I had several email communications with Dr Knafo but he denied that they changed anything it just doesn't make sense. I fought so hard to get onto NDT and now I'm a bit worried to make a fuss as the Endo may say I need to go back on Levo although it didn't suit me at all. Good luck with it all :)

I would really recommend WP thyroid. You may need to take a bit more of it because as I said it does seem gentle but that is no bad thing for some people. I have to confess that I am struggling to raise Armour because it just makes me nervous. ERFA and Naturethroid never did that to me. I had a gentle nervousness if I over did the dosage but on Armour it's horrific. I don't think I would recommend Armour in the same way yet because it's early days....for me.

Such a pig about ERFA......no pun intended!!

Where did you get the WP thyroid can you send me the link? Yes Erfa has certainly become a pig of a thing to take :(

I take just 120 mgs of Erfa I know you have said the WT might be a bit more gentle and we are all different but just interested to know how much Erfa you were on and then what dose of WT did you end up taking x

in reply to Alli1

120 mgs was my dosage of erfa too! I got up to 1 and 1/2 grains of WP before coming off it and changing to armour. But I could tell it was gentler than erfa and my bloods showed a TSH of 2.5 when I was at 1 and 1/2 which is higher than it should have been on an equivalent of ERFA.

Sadly since the ERFA debacle my numbers plummeted to a T3 level way below range and I ended up chronically hypo and so have had to raise incredibly slowly. Much slower than when I was first diagnosed. It's made me realise just how severe my condition has become over the years.

I'm not averse to switching back to WP because Armour is tough going. I just need to persuade my endo and GP to have confidence in it and also remember to order sufficient amounts of it!!

It's such a balancing act. I hope you get it sorted out sounds like you are better suited to WP so hope the medics listen to you! :)

in reply to Alli1

One thing I did notice on the WP was that my bloating disappeared which has always been a bit of a problem even with ERFA.....so if you have a similar problem it might work wonders.

Nice to talk to you.x

That would be a bonus if that was the case. Just wondered when you changed from Erfa to WP did you just stop Erfa and start WP?

in reply to Alli1

I was in such a bad way with the Erfa that my endo told me to come off all meds for a week. Which is what Did. 9 days later and with a Ft3 of 2.3 I began Naturethroid. I had a dreadful time. Because I was so hypo I had to do it really slowly like starting on as low as 1/4 grain a day. That's why it's been such a bad few months and I know I'm not out of the woods yet. When I found out about WP I did a straight switch. Now I did that because I was only taking about 3/4 of a grain at that time and just decided to go for it! It has so few fillers. I wish more people were taking it so we could have some feedback. I think it used to be called Westhroid P?

Yes would be good to hear others stories who are on WP but it seems that people who have their meds sorted don't visit the forum as much it's understandable but would be nice to hear how they got to where they are. I came off Efra last Dec and tried to go on Levo again with the support of my Endo. I got very unwell and went back on Erfa. For the last two tests my FT3 and 4 are below range though my TSH remains suppressed it feels like Erfa has a very low thyroid content in the tabs but can still give me a jittery feeling it's so weird.

I just spoke with Pharmarama and they told me that Armour is no longer being exported outside of the USA! I'll wait to see what happens with ERFA, but WP may be the best alternative.

Hi there, would anyone be able to tell me where they ordered the good batches from? And has anyone else been using the LF03508A 02/2017 and beyond and feeling fine? Does that mean we should we looking for old batches (previous 03/2016) and new ones from 02/2017, would that mean they have reverted to the good kind? Crossing my fingers. This is a madness.
