HELP???. I am desperate & feel so I'll , I need too see someone like Dr Myhill . I have hypothyroidism , pernicious anaemia & fibromyalgia. I live in South Wales. Thank you .
I today contacted Dr Sarah Myhill only too be t... - Thyroid UK
I today contacted Dr Sarah Myhill only too be told she is not taking any more patients.......I was so gutted I cried!. PLEASE CAN ANYONE
Well, dr Myhill would have been good. But if she isn't available, it might be best if you just read up, (her website is really good)) and take your health into your own hands.
You already know what is wrong, now you need to work out how to treat it and to make sure your doc is doing it right.
Anemia is treated with iron, which is not to be taken anywhere near your thyroid meds, and take it with vitamin C to help absorption.
PA is treated with b12. In England you should get injections every three months, but in Scotland you get them much more frequently. You can either buy more injections and learn to DIY, or you could get some sublingual tablets and take them every day.......
Fibromyalgia is thought to be a possible consequence of too much t4 and not enough t3. Get your thyroid hormones tested... Find out where your levels of free t3, reverse t3, free t4 and tsh are. And make sure your meds are optimised........ You may need more t4, or some selenium, or some t3.....
Of course, you can continue to search for a doctor to do all this for you, but in the meantime , you might as well make a start. ( The docs might all be full.)
Testing is available privately..... You deal direct with the labs, Loads of people on here can understand the lab results.... A full profile probably around the £120 mark....
Go for It!

Hi,
Galathea's given you really good advice. You'll get back up, support and advice any time you ask from members here too.
Post recent thyroid function tests with lab ref ranges plus current medication and we'll look to see whether you're under medicated. Ask your GP for ferritin and vitamin D blood tests if these haven't been done. Hypothyroid patients need them high in range to feel well and optimise absorption of meds.
Blue Horizon and Genova do private blood tests via thyroiduk.org
B12 advice from member Hampster1 and via facebook.com/groups/174...
Galathea advice is right. Searching for a knowledgeable doctor in the UK for our thyroid gland or autoimmune diseases is like looking for a needle in a haystack - thus Dr Myhill being unable to take on more patients.
Take Galathea's and Clutter's advice and at least your health is in your own hands, not being dictated to by only referring to the TSH result and ignoring clinical symptoms.
Best wishes
I agree with all the above. I have had auto-immune issues for over 40 years with a thyroid diagnosis only in 2005. You are on your healing journey as you have a diagnosis. May I suggest you have your thyroid antibodies tested as well as VitD. Since taking quite a large dose I have had improvements in many areas.
Am afraid the journey to wellness is very much a DIY one.....
How is your gut health ? Healing the gut is so important to enable good absorption of vital nutrients.
Hope you soon feel better ....
Having said that I would still write to dr myhill, don't give up
Agree with all the above. I know you are feeling overwhelmed and want someone to help you but you really can make a start, yourself. Dr Myhill advocates a paleo diet. Make this change immediately. I can't believe the difference it's made to me. Yes, at first it's daunting but you soon get used to it. Just try for one month and see how you feel. Do you have hashimotos? I did the AIP version of the diet and realise I have a problem with nightshades (potatoes, aubergines, etc) and was quite shocked at how awful I felt when I added potatoes back in. My friend has just used Blue Horizon for a full thyroid panel. Very good and the cost is the same as consulting Dr Myhill. I was very achey for the first week on paleo and then what a difference! Good luck.
Totally agree with everyone else, you can help yourself! Come join the PA Facebook Group Clutter linked above, many of us self treat as the NHS 3 monthly regime is pointless. You also need good folate, ferritin, vit D as already mentioned. Often some other things too like magnesium, zinc etc. Also adrenals possibly an issue.

Hampster, I snagged the FB link off one of your posts. I'm refused access to the page and can't see how one requests to join the group?
Weird, maybe because I copied the link on my phone might have gone wrong. I'll link it again later when I get home.

Hi where abouts are you. I live in Pembs. Consultant prescribed Armour on NHS because he believed 60 mcg of T3 to be too much for me.
Have you thought of seeing Dr Nicola Hembry in Bristol? Not too far from South Wales, and she practices along similar lines to Sarah Myhill. For further info see her website - drhembry.com/
Hi
I live in Swansea - couldn't get much help. I visited dr peatfied in Sussex . It's so frustrating not having help in treating thyroid conditions
Although Dr Myhill is not taking on new patients u can get her to evaluate yr tests fr a charge and u can arrange fr certain tests via her website and she will do a report on the test results plus her recommendations for £80. I have had a stool analysis and adrenal saliva test via her website plus reports.
Had a letter from Dr I saw privately sent to GP about my B12 & endocrinologist about my thyroid. Been feeling so tired so went to see GP Today as my TSH is 23!. They have not replied to her in regards of me having Methylcobalamin injections a few times a week. She has to apparently have the go ahead from GP to give me private prescription. Also my endo appointment been cancelled untill September 1 st from 4th of August. As I am liothianine alongside thyroxine GP admits they don't know what to do , . Again the private Dr wants to give me Armour , again no correspondence. Can u give me any advice please .?. Thank you x
