Hard to say without the reference range but if it is the one I know, then no, it is not ok for you but sadly the NHS waits until people are at 10 before springing into action. You may find an enlightened GP who will give you Levo as a trial and it is definitely worth asking/begging yours and give him a full list of your symptoms. Otherwise you may find a private GP on a list from Thyroid UK who will start you now. I hope you get help soon.

If you were in the USA, with a TSH of 3 you would be treated. Unfortunately, our guidelines are completely pathetic with regard to helping patients recover from clinical symptoms. Here are is some advice:-

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/diagno...

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin... (your GP will be surprised by this but still may not medicate you)

You may have to have a private consultation - email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org for a list.

Most GP's will not treat you unless your TSH is near to 10 which is so wrong.

My GP was always telling me she should not be treating me with Levothyroxine as I had not hit the magic number but lucky I managed to persuade her to give me a trial and things improved for a while but I have a way to go yet. I don't feel so cold since taking levothyroxine.

See if your GP will give you a trial of thyroxine to see if things improve.

Hope you get the treatment you need.
