Am afraid we are all so different - it would be difficult to explain. Most of us have other conditions and that can be confusing. I was not diagnosed until I was 57 so blamed feeling poorly on previous illnesses I had endured. Mostly it is invisible and not painful - for others it is like having bad flu and a myriad of other things.

Hi, I can only describe how it has been for me. I'm lucky in that I don't have any other health conditions other than the thyroid related ones.Obviously, everyone is different and they will have to take their other heath conditions into account.

In the early stages of an attack I get a sudden surge of energy, feel incredibly well for a day or so, then get a really upset stomach, I go off most food and get very strange cravings, (pickles, beetroot !) headaches, a feeling of being too hot and very shaky, muscle cramps and pains and I can't sleep at all, or sit down or concentrate for more than 5 or 10 minutes maximum. I also get extremely irritable and moody, and ban myself from driving until things have calmed down a bit!
