This (taking kelp) has been discussed numerous times. I suggest that you use the search box (top right as I see this page) and read some previous threads.

By all means come back with any points you still need clearing up.

Thank you I have looked at other posts still confused some are for others not

One seems to have taken it on docs advice some stopped also on doctors advice

Looks like it's either try for a while and see if problems chuck in bin

My view is to be very, very careful. Slow, steady, no rushing.

If you are genuinely iodine-deficient then it could have its place.

I too am still confused! :-(

There is far too much uncertainty and too many differing views.

I haven't but Coconut Oil which is very good for the thyroid gland is helpful.

and

Mary Shomon: You are a proponent of coconut oil for thyroid patients. Can you explain why?

I put up a post about this some time ago but the information was sparse however now there is a lot of comments

Seems to be a safer option than kelp maybe this is the way to go

Stupid question sorry but how do you take your coconut oil ...not sure I'm taking mine correctly

It must be virgin coconut oil. When cold it is hard - like lard. Mine says to keep in fridge once opened. You can use it where you usually use oil, it melts very quickly. I put mine in coffee, hot chocolate, puddings. You can put it in soup, or when you fry things. I would experiment slowly as some may not like the coconut taste. If it's too hard I cut some with a knife.

Kelp made me feel very ill when on thyroxine, then I was told I could not take both.
