28 years ago diagnosed with hypothyroid after childbirth have never felt well on Levothyroxine, 2 years ago diagnosed with hypopituitarism apparently caused by sheehans (massive heammoraghing) damaged pituitary, MRI scan show empty sellica. For last 14 months on 25 mg hydrocortisone, 125 mg levothyroxine and last 8months on daily growth hormone injections. Have just purchased ndt from canada at cost of £33 plus £14 vat and handling (£47 in total) and £14 for T3 from Cypress. Please could anyone tell me if these are reasonable prices or not. PLEASE HELP as desperate to feel well but can ill afford these costs.

Can't help with NDT but I buy T3 from Mexico at a cost of around £50 for 300 x 25mcg tablets.

I think the Cypriot T3 is cheaper - the £14 you spend gets you what exactly?

It's shocking that we not only have to buy our own medication but pay for tests and specialists too.

I paid a lot more than that for NDT, so yes I would say that was good, although you dont mention strength or quantity. T3 was out of my budget so I have no idea how much it costs, although that looks a really good price and I would likely have tried it at that price. We also dont have money and had to give up things like having a tv to pay for just being well enough to live. Its awful that we have no other choice, our only entertainment we pay for is the internet, which is a necessity, and we dont eat very well. we have a really old and done car, but cannot afford to replace it, so I know how much having to buy meds costs in the whole scheme of finances when you just dont have any.

If you keep the order price below £15, then you do not get stung by another charge from the Post Office of around £8 plus 20% vat. (As soon as you hit £15, you end up having to pay vat on the cost PLUS the postage.)

Some packages get through without this charge and vat being levied - bets of luck with that.

I think the Cypriot t3 is the cheapest, and the Thai NDT. We aren't allowed to post websites so you might need to ask for PMs

Thankyou all for your replies, sorry didnt mention strength in message.

Ndt - 100 1 grain £47

T3 - 100 25mg £14

They do look ok came with proper pharmacy packaging and internal paper instructions just hope they are what they are. So angry that NHS force us to self medicate to feel better.

How many tablets did you get for this amount of money and why could your GP not prescribe these pills?

My endo or gp will not prescribe t3 as neither believe you need it and it could be dangerous, neither can really back that up and fob me off saying its more then there job is worth, more like it is much more costly than the levo. I will have to pm you with details of supply.

Hi, I take Erfa Thyroid from Canada and I get 100 tablets 125mg for £35 from a local pharmaceutical company but if you want it delivered they send it by registered post so you get it the next day and that costs £6.50 and I got Tyromel 25mcg 3 boxes of 100 at £3.99 a box and I got 3 boxes for just under £12 + £6 postage I cut out the local pharmacy who told me he could get me 1 grain NDT for £70, robbers ! Hope this helps.
