on 100mg thyroxine tsh 0.66 but for a couple ... - Thyroid UK
on 100mg thyroxine tsh 0.66 but for a couple of months I have felt hyper and gp says I am ok on 100 I cant sleep i am hot +agitated
It does sound as if you may be overmedicated. You could reduce to 75mcg daily and see if that improves your symptoms. It will be a bit fiddly cutting pills into quarters to achieve this. Or you could take 100mcg and 50mcg on alternate days. It could take a couple of weeks to notice any change.
personally I wouldn't be too hasty,, it does take good while to regulate to a dose in which time you can get all kinds of feelings. I've had those symptoms you speak of every time I increased then they settled. plus it's not all about the tsh,, but being that your in range, that's all that will be tested. I found it very beneficial to pay for private tests when I had been on 100s for while,, these showed that my ft4 and ft3 were good . these are after all the thyroid hormones and I do wish that doctors would check these before making any decision. my doc always said it takes at least 3 months to fully adapt to new dose. best wishes,,
....could be a conversion issue - from the 100mcg of T4 into the Active T3 hormone...needed by every cell in your body. How are your levels of B12 Iron Folate Ferritin VitD ? Have you had them tested - and what were the results Levels near the top of their ranges will improve the conversion of T4 into T3 and improve your health generally. Have you had your thyroid anti-bodies tested ? Anti-TPO and Anto Tg....
thanks for all your replies my gp will not do further tests as tsh is in range,i was told with a sigh if I must I can reduce to 75mcg for 2 month then have another blood test I only got this response because I said I was lying on top of duvet like I was in the tropics!
insomnia and feeling very hot can be symptoms of hypo- as well as hyper-thyroidism (so the one sensible doctor I've seen about thyroidism in the past 5 years told me). The advice about giving it time seems very sensible - it takes ages for one's system to settle down after a dosage change. I will just mention that what happened after my doctor's remark was he upped my meds (I was hypothyroid by this time) rather than reducing them. Confusing, innit?
hi again I told you all last month that I felt like imay be over medicated as iwas hot and anxious plus went toilet much more my gp put my thyroxine down from 100 to 75mg and said have a repeat blood test in two months .I have done this for 5weeks and I am now freezing cold and no energy do you think the dose is to low now,x
